Work has now properly got underway for the late Shelagh Cluett’s show, the first job always is to repair and redecorate the space itself but this schedule of works also included getting new fluorescent tubes installed in the main space. The spot lights in CHELSEA space have never had a wide enough angle to ‘wash’ the walls with light from top to bottom and there were always large areas of shadows particularly at the top of the walls. With the use of digital photography and editing in Photoshop, flourescent light with its ‘infrequent oscillation’ is far less of a problem than with 35mm slide film where it gave everything a green glow.
The 12 black and white photographs we are exhibiting in the entrance and ramp spaces have now been mounted and framed by Sharon Vickers and in their white frames and slightly off-white mounts they look stunning. The CHELSEA space publication for the exhibition also includes 12 of these images.
