Stephen Willats, who showed his West London Social Resource Project with us in 2011, has an excellent new show Conscious-Unconscious: in and out the reality check at Modern Art Oxford. The show represents the next stage in a relationship with the gallery that goes back to 1968.

Pil and Galia with a projection of their multi-media work Asparagus: A Horticultural Ballet

There may have been a holiday coming but the lead up was a busy and interesting time for CHELSEA space. First was the excellent talk  Against Human Nature by Pil and Galia Kollectiv . Pil and Galia, like Neue Slowenische Kunst,  are a ‘Retro-garde’ collaborative practice who use the discourses of Modernism to consider contemporary issues in politics and art. In this excellent talk they looked at consumerism, the 2011 … More To Follow: Read The Full Text Here

Monitoring Stephen Willats (part 3)

Stephen Willats with curator Michele Drascek

One thing that has been confirmed by going through Stephen Willats’ West London  Social Resource Project materials is that, whether its 1972 or 2011, Stephen always has an eye for cool luggage. We are wondering whether the striped bag in the black and white photograph from 1972 was as bright as his latest one.
